Life on the family farm was a second chance for Jim Bauer. Farming was never in his blood but, with his wife, Heidi, and his daughter, Maggie, he made it work. There was nothing the field threw at him that a little elbow grease and dumb luck couldn’t fix. Those kinds of problems never required money; just a little sense.
But then Maggie got sick. And the county hospital didn’t have the funding or the resources to care for her. And Jim didn’t have the cash or insurance to get her to the big city’s med center.
So he picked up a gun.
And he found the money in the cash register of the local hardware store.
Enter Sheriff Grace Cain. She was never accused of being a good mother. Her own son would tell you he came second to the town she swore to protect.
But all Grace ever wanted was to be like her father. He was a good sheriff. Just like his daddy. And his daddy before him.
They wouldn’t rest until justice was served - and neither would Grace.
If only getting Maggie to the big city was the end of it. Sure, there was good news: Maggie’s cancer was operable. But it would cost more. Thousands more.
Harvest was still months away and knocking over hardware stores wasn’t going to cut it. Maybe if Jim had more time he would have come up with a better plan. But with Sheriff Cain closing in, he set his sights on the bank...
...and one final score to save Maggie’s life.
